Pocahaunted - The Beast that you are

Pocahaunted, droney mediative experimental pretty noise from the US, signed on Not Not Records, these girls have been getting great receptions and have a fairly large back catalogue, mainly cassettes, and one LP in 2007 "Island Diamonds" this cassette though "The Beast That you Are" is a chilled out celestial sesh that will leave you wanting to hear more of their music. being a cassette it's side A and side B.

Pissed Jeans - King of Jeans

Latest album from Noise Rockers Pissed Jeans, for fans of The Jesus Lizard and bands in a similar vein, King of Jeans is a catching noisy album, Produced by Alex Newport (At the Drive in, Sepultura etc) worth a listen or two. False Jesii part 2. is an amazing opener for the album, can't stop listening to it.

Iron Lung / Walls / Pig Heart Transplant - Public Humiliation

Iron Lung, big boys in the the whole Power-Violence, I'm pissed off scene, and rightly so! They seem to have shot up over the last year or so, as with the genre, the scene kids fount a new favourite after straight edge seemed to have died out ha, but regardless these guys are still artists. This collaboration, recorded live back in '08 is a good example of their prowess within the scene, they have done a lot of collab's, another notably with Hatred Surge.

These three bands come together somewhat seamlessly to make a noisy kill everyone blood and guts three way, the album has a ton of Iron Lung elements, the other two bands, in all honesty i'm not overly familiar with, but going but this collaboration I'd say they were worth looking in to. Couple of classics on here "Sexless/no sex" reminds me of an Iron Lung interview I read in Vice a few years back, Iron Long talking about sex shows nothing of intimacy, and how hookers and rape victims surely would agree, that summed up Iron Lung's ethos to me and I loved them from then on. So please, check this collaboration out, check out some Iron Lung LP's, "Life.Iron Lung.Death" is a favourite, Walls and Pig Heart too. For now enjoy this.

Liars - Sisterworld

Liars, a band hard to classify musically, So I will suggest you just listen to them. Experimenta Dance-Punk from New York, the latest album Sisterworld, fell to a very early leak as it's due for release officially in March but has been available for a while now, it's a great album, Liars live up the whats expected, bringing their dizzying catchiness to this album, I've heard of a remix of this album, featuring Melvins, Deerhunter, Thom Yorke! and others, which would be a delight.

For now though, we have Sisterworld which as it is, is a delight, so take the time to try something different. Couple of my favourite tracks are "No Barrier Fun" and the ever so slightly Trans Am-esq "Scarecrows on a Killer Slant.

Orchid + Pig Destroyer split

Where to start on this one, two titans in their respectable scenes together on an insane split. Orchid being one of my favourite bands ever, in their day pumping out blistering screamo/emo violence, becoming the poster child's of the genre if you will. Of course breaking up a long time ago, but still I can listen to their albums and enjoy them to this day. Orchid albums that spring to mind for people new to them, Chaos is Me, Dance tonight! Revolution Tomorrow, all though to me they're all incredible.

Pig Destroyer, pioneering modern grindcore band, giants in the grindcore scene, being active since '97 and soon to releasing a new album! which will be amazing I'm sure, Anyway, put these two bands together (the split made in 1997) and you get the raw sounds of both bands when they were staring out, Pig Destroying show their talent for making menacing, blistering grindcore, insane screams and sheer pace, Orchid show their fast-paced brand of Emo Violence and bring us this incredible split. I was surprised to see this split when I first came across it as Scremo and Grindcore to me are fairly distant from each other in terms of lyrical content, ethos etc. But it's great to see the two come together and just tear it up. For Pig Destroyer, Terrifyer to me is their best release.

At 10 mins long, A fairly short split, naturally, it packs a punch, enjoy. R.I.P Orchid, long live Pig Destroyer.

Divisions - Fin [Cassette]

Divisions, Power-fuck thrashey violence from Tampa Bay Florida, a lot of amazing bands from here, one of my favourites Reversal of Man. But anyway These guys are repping Tampa Bay well again, Divisions have releases on Human Crush recordings, some great bands on the same vein on that label.

They bring a crushing raw, fast and anger fuelled album here, ripped from a cassette it's not amazing quality but this to me suits much better, en-keeping with the whole DIY underground ethos. They have also released a self titled 7" through Human Crush, which can be purchased here. The guitarist in this band is ex Holy Mountain, who have more a Crust background, but on here he's tearing things up. I hope this band put up an LP some day, watch this space.
