Trailing through the countryside on a slow, delayed train, I find myself lost in the Blackened Crusty noise that is Akitsa. Akitsa are a Raw, Depressive Black Metal from Quebec Montreal fusing traditional Forest Black Metal if you will, at least in terms of it's typical Black Metal production, or lack there of, raw sound, clawing vocals, and screeching guitar, they fuse this with some elements of Crust which brings a heavier side to their sound.
this album 'Goétie' is a great example of Raw BM, despite their tags on last fm, they do not associate with any national socialist views, a positive in my eyes, and Canada of course more liberal than some other black metal home lands. 'Goétie' is a lengthy unforgiven LP than any BM fan can appreciate. The Crust influence is more prevalent in some tracks than others, 'Affront Final' is a good example of this. The production of the album has somewhat more presence and density than most DBM productions. Being a French speaking band is of course a plus in Black Metal, in some aspects it could be likened to some LLN artist. Overall Akitsa have a heavier, brutal style of Black Metal, worth a listen.
